Academics and Students
Having the support of our tertiary institutions is extremely important.
It is hoped that all universities and other tertiary institutions across Australia, including TAFEs, will develop supportive leave policies in the near future.
Southern Cross University has been congratulated by Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence, Mr Peter Lindsay, for leading the way to develop a set of defence leave guidelines, which represent best practice.
This policy is in line with academic policies that already exist to support elite athletes and other students with special needs. It has been endorsed by the Australian Vice Chancellors' Committee and the Defence Reserves Support Council.
