Submission Time Frame
Claim forms must be submitted within 6 months of the 1st day of continuous Defence service for which the claim is made (this does not apply to annual Qualifying Period service).
Claims that are made more than 6 months after the 1st day of service will only be eligible for payment for any part of the claim period that occurred within 6 months of the claim being made (unless this requirement is waived by the Director, Deputy Director or Assistant Director of the ESP Scheme).
Late Waiver
Claimants may request a waiver of the limitation period for late claims. If requesting a late waiver, claimants must explain why the claim was submitted late and detail any special circumstances that may apply.
Late waivers will only be granted when claimants provide an acceptable justification for the late submission. Unless exceptional circumstances exist, claimants should not anticipate approval of late waiver requests when:
Late claims for which a waiver is sought must be forwarded, with justification for the late submission, to the nominated ESP delegate (within Navy, Army or Air Force). The ESP delegate will forward the request for a late waiver to the Director of the ESP Scheme for consideration.
