Hobart hosts DRS Golf Day

On Monday, 7 April, Tasmania DRS staff, a couple of National Office staff and a few dozen local employers braved the crisp Autumn weather and took to the golf course.

The course proved to be a challenge for some…whilst others breezed through. Nonetheless the day was a huge success with all employers walking away with a much better grasp of the who, what, why and where of Reserves and some even picked up a prize!

Collaborative partnership between the Port Lincoln community and the
Royal Australian Naval Reserve (RANR)

A collaborative partnership between the Port Lincoln community and the Royal Australian Naval Reserve (RANR) was the focus when NUSHIP Glenelg berthed at Brennen Jetty in Port Lincoln on Monday 18th February.

The partnership was launched by His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC, CSC, RANR, the Governor of South Australia and the Defence Reserves Support - South Australia (DRS-SA) organisation.

The new initiative offers sustainable, worthwhile employment in the Navy Reserve to trade trained Marine Engineers employed in the local fishing fleet. The project offers the opportunity for trade qualified personnel to join the Navy Reserve in Port Lincoln, enhancing Navy's capability by addressing a shortage of qualified technical sailors and providing exciting employment during the fishing off season.
