On the 10th Dec 2009 GPCAPT Monty Smith and SQNLDR Del Gaudry travelled to Taree in NSW to deliver two Employer Support Awards.
LCPL John Putan nominated Wingham Beef Exports for an Employer Support Award. Wingham Beef Exports is the largest employer in the region. Mr Bob Howarth, HR Manager, said they were very happy to receive the award and were a strong supporter of Defence Reserves.
The Greater City of Taree was presented with Certificate of Appreciation. The Greater City of Taree has two long term Army Reserve employees, SSGT John Connell and MAJ Adrian Farrell. SSGT Connell had only just arrived home from being deployed from the Solomon Islands the day before the presentation. This was the third time that a Council employee had taken extended leave to conduct Army service. MAJ Adrian Farrell who nominated the Council, said that he believed the Council deserved recognition for their long term support of Reserves. Mr Ian Potter - Engineering Support Manager, had also just been on Exercise Boss Lift to the Solomon Islands and was a very strong supporter of Reserves. Mr Potter said that Boss Lift gave him the opportunity to see what goes on and how the Reserves contribute. The Greater Taree City Council also donated a number of books to local schools in the Solomon Islands.

International Conference Cocktail Function Delights Delegates
The Sydney Cricket Ground provided the ideal backdrop for the International Conference on Employer Support for the Reserves 2009 Opening Cocktail Function.
The function, attended by about 100 delegates, was held in the Arthur Morris Room, much to the delight of cricket fans amongst the group.
