Asia South-West Pacific Region Reserves Capability Forum 2010
Participants of Exercise Boss Lift and the Australian Defence Force Parliamentary Program visit villagers Civilian employers of Defence Force reservists have experienced first-hand the conditions and challenges faced by their employees whilst serving on operations overseas.
Twenty employers recently joined their reservist employees currently deployed to the Solomon Islands in support of Operation Anode. Now in its fourth year of operation, Exercise Boss Lift is designed to inform and promote to employers the important tasks being conducted by their reservist employees by providing them with a chance to experience service life in the field via such activities as kit demonstrations, range shoots and base tours.
Exercise Boss Lift provides each Operation Anode reserve rotation with the opportunity to showcase the skills they have developed during their service in the Solomon Islands back to their local workplaces in Australia.

DRSC Townsville Tri-Service Lunch
The DRSC Townsville Tri-Service lunch was held at the Daly Officers Mess, Lavarack Barracks Townsville on 26 Mar 10. This briefing and presentation of awards for employers allowed the opportunity to present a Reserve Support Award and provide information on the support available to employers and Reservists.

Exercise Executive Stretch Northern Territory
Exercise Executive Stretch (EES), coordinated by Defence Reserves Support, is aimed specifically at middle and senior management. It is designed to allow employers an opportunity to experience a range of activities that show them the invaluable skills that can be gained through participation in the Australian Defence Force Reserves.
EES is an excellent opportunity for the Australian Defence Force to demonstrate the benefits of Reserve service to employers and supervisors of Reservists who have no prior experience of the military.
The Northern Territory's Defence Reserves Support office held an EES within the Darwin/Palmerston Military Area from 15 to 17 April 2010.
Farewell to BRIG John Colvin
Defence Reserves Support - New South Wales has farewelled one of its longest serving volunteers - Brigadier John Colvin (Rtd).
Brigadier Colvin was sent off in style at the final DRS-NSW meeting for 2009 by the State Committee's Deputy Chair, Group Captain Monty Smith.
Mr Glenn Jones has been appointed the State's new Regional Chair.
TAFE NSW Big Breakfast - March 2010
The Riverina Murray regional DRS committee was delighted to sponsor the TAFE NSW Big Breakfast on 19 Mar 10. The breakfast was held in Wagga Wagga on a beautiful autumn morning where the attendees enjoyed breakfast cooked and served by the students at the TAFE.
DRS Regional Manager, LTCOL Russ Mullins said, "There were around 150 representatives in attendance from businesses in and around the Riverina. This event is now seen as the largest Business Networking Event in the Wagga Community. This is the second year we have attended this breakfast and it is a great way of getting our Defence Reserves Support name out amongst the local business community.”
Dr Keith Suter was the key note speaker for this year’s event. NSW Deputy Chairman, GPCAPT Monty Smith and State Manager SQNLDR Del Gaudry were also at the event.
Solomon Islands Exercise Boss Lift - March 2010
Civilian employers of Army reservists currently deployed to the Solomon Islands have reunited with their employees on Exercise Boss Lift. Nineteen Bosses have taken the opportunity to see what life is like for their staff, who are serving their nation as part of Operation Anode. Exercise Boss Lift, now in its 7th year of operation, is designed to inform and promote to employers the important tasks being carried out by the Army Reserve. It provides participants with first hand experience of service life, including range shoots, school visits, kit demonstrations and a tour of the main operating base. The exercise is the first of 2010, running from March 1-4 2010
