Defence Assisted Study Scheme

Reserve Policy Division has acquired funding for Reserve Defence Assisted Study Scheme (DASS).  At this stage, funding is available for a two year period only.  Consequently, there is no guarantee that Reservists who commence a course of study spanning more than two years will receive DASS subsidies past this point.  However, efforts will be made to secure ongoing funding.

DASS will be available for Reservists commencing Semester One in 2008.  The aim of the Scheme is to improve the in-Service study opportunities for military personnel of all rank levels and to encourage individuals to consider professional training and education throughout their career.

DGRES-AF (RAAF Williams office) will administer the scheme for Air Force Reservists. Ordinarily, the closing date for Semester One is 1 Nov.  However, due to the very recent availability of funds, the closing date for Semester One Reserve applications - for this time only - is 1 Feb 08.

Interested Air Force Reservists should note:

• Applications must be received at the address below by COB 01 Feb 08 for Semester 1 2008.  Late applications will not be considered.
• Applications will be assessed as they are received at DGRES-AF (RCM)
  
  
• Eligibility criteria:
  • Open to High Readiness, Active and Specialist Reserve Members 
  • Must have completed Officer or Recruit Training and IET training 
  • Completed a minimum of 20 Reserve days in either FY 06/07 or FY 07/08
• Policy regarding DASS is contained in DI(G) PERS 05-1.
