Defence Reserves Support (DRS) proudly invites you to participate in Exercise Executive Stretch, a weekend activity designed to give you as an employer an insight into the type of training conducted in the Reserves.
Reserve training is about self-discipline, personal development and organisation skills – those strengths valued by all employers.
Aimed specifically at middle and senior level managers, Executive Stretch aims to show you what invaluable skills can be gained through participation in the Defence Force Reserves, and how these skills can benefit your work environment. We hope to encourage you to support any of your employees who are in the Reserve.
And best of all it’s free– the activity will cost you nothing!

Executive Stretch is your chance to experience first hand the Reserves’ techniques – techniques which lead to the development of specific skills and abilities enhancing personal development.

Of course you are!
If you are a middle or senior level manager male or female, you will qualify for this activity. Executive Stretch is designed to be fun, stimulating and geared to developing personal skills, rather than physical exertion. The only prerequisites are enthusiasm, energy and a desire to take up the challenge!
What can you expect to do on the exercise?
A typical Executive Stretch program is adventurous, and is conducted over a weekend.
• Leadership, confidence and initiative tests
• Team building exercises
• Navigation theory and practice
• Bush craft
• Communications
• Quick decision exercises
• Abseiling and rappelling exercises
Conduct of the exercise
Generally, you are invited to arrive at an Australian Defence Force training establishment on Friday evening. You are then briefed on the exercise and receive some basic instruction in the skills you may need over the weekend, such as map reading. On Saturday morning a series of group and individual activities herald the start of the stimulating and intense main phase of the program which continues until mid morning on Sunday, when activities cease and the participants gather for presentations and exchange thoughts on the weekend.
