DRSC Qld held a function at the RAAF Townsville Officers' Mess to present a Certificate of Appreciation to the Department of Education and the Arts, for their support to FLTLT Troy Davison during his career with 27 SQN in Townsville, more particularly in their support and guidance to him in his nomination for a Prince of Wales Award.

Troy is an auditor with the Department of Education and the Arts and travels to schools throughout the Townsville region. He is able to attend regularly at his Air Force unit where he is a logistics officer. Troy was a National Finalist for the Prince of Wales Award.

At the same function, a State Award was presented to Queensland Rescue, Townsville for their ongoing support for their ADF Reservists. They ensure rosters and duties are flexible enough to enable their Reservists to regularly undergo training and exercises. Mr Greg Huppatz, Townsville Manager commented that a high percentage of their staff are ex regular service personnel and continued their military service in the Reserves. Qld Rescue has supported three members through the nomination process for Prince of Wales Award. SGT Peter Elliott is a Crew Officer with Qld Rescue.
