All Defence Reservists are strategically supported by the Vice Chief of the Defence Force (VCDF) Group.
The VCDF Group consists of Cadet, Reserve and Employer Support Division, Joint Logistics Command, Military Strategic Commitments Divisions, Joint Education Training and Warfare Command and Joint Health Command.
The VCDF Group was established on 1 October 2007 to support VCDF's role to focus on Defence business at the Strategic level, specifically to support to the Government and Chief of the Defence Force (CDF) by deputising for CDF as directed, and as the Australian Defence Force's joint capability manager. Key functions include developing policy guidance on future commitments to enable CDF to arrange the operating tempo of the ADF; liaison with other Government Agencies, Allies and coalition partners at the strategic level; managing joint logistics; managing joint capabilities, managing joint health and providing input to joint capability development.
